Semester Reflection

As you answer these questions make sure to:

  1. As much as possible: utilize and cite the assignments done in this class and others from this semester (assignments utilized or cited should also show up on your CAC Site).
  1. You “cite” by mentioning your assignments and highlighting them each time like this
  1. Have at least a minimum of 40 words for each response.

General Long Answer:  (all courses): cite assignments from your course(s) (40 word min each)

1.What are you better at now than you were at the end of the previous academic year? Name all of the ways that these improvements were made possible.

I am better at decorating any project than I was at the end of the previous year because I decorated a sustainability project, and it helped me to gain a better understanding of decoration. I used a unique design, filter, and text font to make the project look aesthetic.

2.What are you most proud of from the past academic year? Why does this make you proud?

I am most proud of the discussion part of the research paper as I made all the valid points related to the introduction and methodology of the research paper. This makes me proud because I did the research paper last semester, and I was unable to correlate discussion with introduction and methodology but this semester I learned how to make the relationship between the discussion and introduction and methodology.

3.What went well this past academic year? What tools, supports or resources aided your success?

Writing and editing discussion and conclusion went well this past academic year. Database peer reviewed websites from CCNY library support or resources aided my success. Moreover, I also googled about the research paper to get a basic idea of it.

  1. What did not go well this past academic year? What was missing that made this experience challenging or undesirable?

The communication among my teammates did not go well this past academic year as they were inactive and uncooperative most of the time. I honestly think we lacked the determination towards group work or more specifically research paper that made this experience challenging or undesirable.

  1. What insight did you gain about your own needs for mitigating challenges? Where or how can you fulfill these needs in the future?

I created a WhatsApp group among my team members and created a discord server for the whole class so that it is easier for us to communicate with each other easily and smoothly for every assignment and most importantly, research paper and sustainability project. I will let everyone and more specifically my teammates communicate with each other even after the end of the semester so that we can help each other in future assignments.

  1. What did you learn from overcoming challenges? How will you remember what you learned and apply it when a similar issue arises?

I learned to be patient and trust my teammates regarding assignments even though sometimes I had to push them to complete assignments (research paper) on time. I will remember the efforts of my teammates regarding group assignments even if they cannot complete assignments on time and I will apply it when a similar issue arises.

  1. When did you feel happiest or most at ease this year? How can you experience those moments more frequently?

I felt happiest or most at ease this year when my teammates completed and submitted their edits regarding the research paper (introduction, methodology, and data section) on blackboard. I can experience those moments more frequently if I get more group assignments and my teammates do their work and show their dedication towards their responsibility in a timely manner.

  1. What moments are you proud of? What can you do to celebrate yourself?

I am proud of the moments when I was able to complete all my group projects (discussion and conclusion of the research paper) accurately on time. I will talk about it with my teammates and after the end of the semester, we might hang out and celebrate our efforts together.

  1. What new ideas, information, resources or research made a positive difference for you this year? What was helpful about these things?

Citing sources from the database of CCNY library, working as a group rather than individually, promoting self-control, learning and maintaining group assignments, and so on made a positive difference for me this year.  These things helped me to do assignments (research paper, sustainability project, and so on) more efficiently and submit them before the deadline.

Short Answer: Course Specific (only this course): cite assignments from the course (40-word min each)

1.How has your understanding of the scientific writing process changed from what it was before this class?

My understanding of the scientific writing process changed from what it was before this class as I learned how to utilize database resources from CCNY website and do my research on a scientific topic and make a perfect research paper. I also learned how to write different parts of a research paper(introduction, methodology, data section, discussion, and conclusion).

2.Where do you believe the scientists primary responsibilities are, to fellow scientists, or to the public? Why?

The primary responsibility of a scientist to a fellow scientist is that a scientist needs to emphasize using ethical experiments where there will be no use of humans and animals. They will use alternative samples rather than humans and animals. In the research paper, I learned using humans and animals for experiments would be harmful for them with barely any positive outcome.

3.What was your experience with the PSA project? What do you think you learned from it?

My experience with the PSA project was good as I learned how people from poor countries have barely access or no access to clean and pure water and I also learned how to decorate Canva. I learned the reasons and the sufferings of poor people as they couldn’t drink pure water.

4.What was the most memorable example of forward-Facing Science (or science focused on explaining itself to the public)? What made it stand out to you and what did it teach you about the ability to promote science to the public?

The most memorable example of forward Facing Science (or science focused on explaining itself to the public) was “Drinking unclean water leads to illness and death from bacteria living in this water” which is from the PSA project. It made me realize we all need to have access to clean drinking water for our survival on earth and it taught me about the ability to promote science to the public. I learned that we all needed to make deliberate effort and pay close attention to develop the abilities to convey science to a public audience.

5.What will you most take away from this course, that could be applied to your future classes?

The most take away from this course that could be applied to my future classes is that I will use CCNY database resources for my future research paper and I will be able to do more work and do my responsibilities in a group.
